We recognise that life is unpredictable. Whether you are facing job loss, illness, a natural disaster, or business challenges, we are here to help when your circumstances shift unexpectedly.

If meeting your loan commitments has become a struggle, Bridgit offers various support pathways. Review the information below to learn about available options and how to start your application for hardship assistance.

How we can help

Based on your specific situation, our assistance may include and will depend on the type of loan you hold with us:

  • Temporarily pausing your scheduled repayments.
  • A temporary reduction in your repayment amounts.

Please note that hardship assistance is designed as a short-term measure rather than a permanent solution. It is intended to provide you with the necessary time to stabilise your finances until you can either resume regular payments or finalise the sale of your property to repay the loan.

We evaluate every application individually and encourage you to reach out to us as soon as you anticipate financial difficulties.

Note: For independent and confidential financial counseling, you can contact the National Debt Helpline at 1800 007 007.

Submitting your request

To apply, please download and complete the Bridgit Hardship Assistance Application form. This document helps us understand your current situation and conduct a thorough assessment.

Email your completed application and any required documents to collections@bridgit.com.au.

Our team will begin reviewing your application immediately upon receipt. The assessment can take up to three weeks, and we will reach out if we need more information.

Hardship and your credit report

Bridgit is legally required to notify credit reporting agencies when a hardship arrangement is put in place.

For example, if a temporary repayment reduction is agreed upon, your report will indicate that payments are being met according to that specific agreement. A "financial hardship information" note will appear alongside your repayment history for the duration of the arrangement.

This note stays on your report for 12 months and does not impact your credit score. While it doesn't state the reason for the hardship, future lenders might request further clarification about the arrangement.
