Behind the deal - Mitri Bosheh

Meet Mitri Bosheh, Senior BDM at Bridgit.

He’s been with the team for just under a year now and knows the ins and outs of all things bridging helping clients unlock and use their equity. We sat down with him to find out what really goes on behind the deal.

Tell us a bit about what you were doing before you joined Bridgit?

Before joining Bridgit, I was a Commercial and SMSF BDM, working closely with brokers across business lending, commercial property and SMSF lending. 2027 marks my 20th year in finance and banking, and during that time, I’ve always enjoyed the relationship side of the industry and helping brokers find a way through deals that don’t always fit neatly into a box.

What’s a day in your life at Bridgit look like?

There’s honestly no real typical day. I’m usually on the road meeting brokers, taking calls, working through new opportunities and helping structure deals. A big part of my day is problem solving, looking at a scenario, understanding what the broker and client are trying to achieve and workshopping a deal to figure out how we can make it work.

What’s a hurdle you are seeing brokers and customers face in the current market and how are you trying to help solve that?

I think one of the biggest hurdles is that traditional lending policies can make perfectly viable transactions difficult, particularly when timing is tight. Bridging can give brokers another option when a client needs to buy before they sell or access their equity when traditional servicing isn’t available. My role is really about helping brokers understand the options early, structure the deal properly and give them confidence that there is a solution.

What’s a change you think will happen in the industry in the next 12 months?

I think brokers will continue looking beyond traditional lending products and using more specialist solutions to get deals across the line. With the market moving quickly, speed and flexibility are becoming more important than the rate. I also think technology will continue to make the process faster, but the relationship between the broker and BDM will still be hugely important.

What’s been your most memorable deal?

I’ve worked on so many memorable scenarios since joining Bridgit, but one that really stands out was a 76 year old retired lady who had purchased a downsizer, expecting to sell her existing property in time for settlement.

A week before settlement, she found out there would be no extension available and she was at risk of losing a significant deposit. Her broker came to us to workshop the scenario, and we were able to get the application through to settlement in just five business days.

That gave her the time and breathing room to sell and settle her existing property without the added stress or risk of losing a substantial amount of money.

For me, that’s what makes this job so rewarding. It wasn’t just about settling another deal. We were able to step in at the right time and genuinely help someone when they needed it most.

What’s a common misconception about the industry you love debunking?

That bridging finance is only for people who are desperate or in financial trouble. It’s actually a really useful strategic tool. If someone has equity and a clear exit strategy, bridging can give them the flexibility to secure their next property without having to wait for their existing property to settle.

Another misconception is that bridging finance is only for buy now and sell later scenarios, Bridgit has solutions that go beyond that, and I love educating brokers on how we can help their customers access their equity before they sell.

How would you describe the colour blue?

Blue reminds me of the ocean. It’s relaxing, but there’s also something powerful about it. It can be completely calm one minute and pretty wild the next.

What would be your ideal weekend?

My ideal weekend would start with the kids’ karate, which has become a pretty regular part of our weekends. From there, it’s all about spending time together as a family, whether that’s getting out for breakfast or lunch, doing something with the kids or just relaxing at home. Good food, a bit of sport, and the occasional date night with my wife would make for a pretty perfect weekend. An Eels win would obviously make it even better even though that’s a rare occurrence these days!
